Current Bryan College of Health Sciences students may borrow laptops from the Library Circulation Desk. Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Checkout time is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. No evening or weekend checkout. One laptop per person may be checked out.


What you need to borrow a laptop

  • In person with a Bryan student ID
  • A library account in good standing (no overdue items, fines, etc.)
  • Flash Drive is recommended (to save your work and take it away with you)
  • Read the terms of use and sign the borrower agreement responsibility form and condition report

What you get

  • Dell 13" (charger and mouse included)
  • Wi-fi enabled (may not work with hot spots) 
  • Windows 7, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome

Loan Period

  • Laptops can be checked out for three weeks
  • Renewals are made on a case by case basis. 
  • Failure to return the laptop on time will result in a fine 

Loan Enforcement

  • The Library staff reserves the right to deny checkout privileges based on past abuses
  • The borrower agrees to return the laptop equipment in the same order and condition as when received and if such equipment is damaged or lost while on loan, agrees to reimburse the College for the costs of repair or replacement with new equipment of the same type

Overdue Charges

  • Overdue charges of $5.00 per day 
  • There is no grace period
  • Please report loss, damage, or defect to the Library immediately

Lost, Damaged or Stolen Fees

  • Borrowers are responsible for all fees associated with a lost, damaged or stolen laptop
  • A minimum $50 damage fee will be accessed for any damage
  • A replacement fee of up to $500 will be assessed for lost or not returned laptops

Printing Your Work

  • Printing is unavailable on laptops

Security

  • Do not leave the library laptops unattended. You are responsible for the laptop and any loss or damage incurred while the laptop is checked out to you. 
  • Personal software may not be downloaded onto the laptop. No user files will be retained as the computer will be wiped clean upon return

Assistance

  • For technical questions about operation of the library laptops, please call the Library. Do not call Jawad or the Medical Center help desk
  • Please report any hardware or software problems to Library staff when returning the laptop
